Exterior view of Western Refrigerator Line refrigerator car 7001. This print is most likely a builder's photograph of car as it came out of the shops in January of 1923. The Western Pacific Railroad set up the Western Refrigerator Line effective January 1, 1923 to operate a new fleet of refrigerator cars; however, the WP reached an agreement with the Pacific Fruit Express, and the cars never operated in revenue service under the WRL name. The cars were changed to PFE lettering upon arrival in Roseville. Search for PFE refrigerator car 50187 to see the PFE and WP lettering scheme.
