Summary  An idealized Sacramento Valley fed by a broad river, spread out in planted plots, and presided over by a snow-capped Mt. Shasta is the vision H. L. Dean & Company offered in their colorful advertising. The oranges, just in reach and ripe for the plucking, were a nice touch, and as one of the leading firms in shipping and mail order sales Dean recognized oranges as a sure seller with a demand greater than available supply.
