Summary
In 1901 the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce issued NEEDS AND COMMERCE OF THE SACRAMENTO RIVER to chronicle and illustrate work done on the upper Sacramento River. Snags, mining debris and other obstacles combined with shallow passages plagued the vessels transporting cargo on the upper Sacramento River. Pulling a "warp" line positioned the ship or boat so it could be moved over stretches with little or no clearance.
