The ANNUAL STATISTICAL REPORT FOR SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA - FISCAL YEAR 1924-1925 is a wealth of information and photos. The Rio Vista bridge was built as a joint enterprise by Sacramento and Solano counties in 1917 for at a cost of $260.000. At the time this book was published this bridge was maintained by the state of California. For 29 years it served as the lowest crossing point on the Sacramento River. The bridge was replaced by a new span in 1960 at a cost of $4 million dollars!
